No, I'm not referring to your kitchen sink or your arteries - this edition of Cyberfolk is about something
fun you can do with your feet - clog dancing!
Clogging is American dance form derived from a variety of sources, including the step dancing of the
British Isles and the traditional dance of native Americans.
It's fun and good exercise, too, so here are some places on the web that will get you up on your feet.
"The Clogging Page" gives a complete history of clogging, right up to the different forms it takes today.
You'll also find reviews of instructional videos, recordings and a listing of clogging publications.
The Clogging Page can be found at
http://www.access.digex.net/~jmangin/clogging.htm
"Web Cloggers" at http://www.clogging.com has the Cloggers Mall,
where you can subscribe to clogging newsletters and find clogging products. This site also has a chat area.
Brooke's Clogging Page contains another extensive discussion of the history and varied traditions of clogging,
as well as some photos of cloggers in the act! Find it at
http://www.geocities.com/Nashville/Opry/2891 .
For a look at a more contemporary approach to clogging, check out Kelli's Clogging Page at
http://www.afn.org/~Kelli/clogging/clogging.html .
There you'll find more information about clogging, including its health benefits, and cue sheets of original
choreography. You'll also find a clogging calendar of events.
Lots of cue sheets, as well as links to other great clogging sites can be found at the Austrailian
Clogging Association's site at
http://www.geocities.com/Broadway/Alley/9213 .
Want to try it for yourself? Find some local clog dancing events at the Chicago Traditional American
Folk Dance Web Site at
