Summer Surfing
This edition of Cyberfolk
has no particular theme - it's just about
some of the spots on
the Net that I have enjoyed lately...
Paul Kucharski's Acoustic
Fingerstyle Guitar page at
http://www.execpc.com/~pgkuchar
is the most extensive reference for finger
style guitar that I have
found. And you don't have to be a player to enjoy
it. For players it has
essays, tablature, links to instructional sites, a
great book review section,
links to tablature software, links to on line
music stores, guitar
jokes, and lots more. For those who enjoy listening
to guitar music there
are listings of guitar recordings, complete with
links to purchase them.
Best of all, it has a great listing of links to
sites where you can listen
to this music on-line, and download MP3 files.
I have especially enjoyed
listening to A-Net Radio at
http://www.anetstation.com/
It plays all guitar, all the time. It was
great background music
for writing this article!
I located the Acoustic
Guitar site through DMOZ, which aspires to be the
largest human edited
directory on the web. It is a volunteer edited
directory similar to
Yahoo but without all the commercial @#$&! Here's
their link to Fingerstyle
Guitar sites:
http://dmoz.org/Arts/Music/Instruments/Stringed/Guitar/Fingerstyle/
James Taylor fans will
love Scott Adams shrine to his favorite performer.
It has dozens of MP3
files of rare JT recordings, most of them for free
downloading. Check it
out at http://www.scott-adams.com/jt.htm
WKSU from Kent State University
has much of its folk music programming on
line. Give it a listen
at http://www.wksu.org/folk/
It's summer, so don't
forget to attend a folk festival or two. Take a look
at the festival listings
at these sites:
